The day started off dry and promising with many attending, we even had the Red arrows fly over while on the way to Blackpool air show. Rain was on and off throughout the day, but that did not stop some from flying, Even if it meant having someone hold an umbrella over you! The day ended with some night flying.
What a weekend for flying, we could not of asked for any better weather, with some awesome people that turned up and the quality of flying performed from people that attended, with lots of laughs. At one point, we even had 7 EDF’s flying at once! Thanks to Jake for the photos!
On the 15th May 2022 BMFA members across the UK came together at 12 noon to collectively attempt to set a new record for the greatest number of model aircraft of all types in the air at one time at BMFA affiliated clubs around the UK. The attempt was one of a number of events celebrating the BMFA / SMAE Centenary. We achieved a new BMFA National absolute record of, 3109 model aircraft and drones in the air at 263 flying sites across the UK. Our club had a total of 8 pilots taking to the air at 11:58am. The weather forecast wasn’t the best, giving us a strong, gusty cross wind. After a small briefing and some bacon butty’s we thought the safest way would be to all fly in the same direction to avoid the possibilities of a mid-air collision. The event turned out well and all pilots had fun in taking part.
